About the film
The untold story.
Narrated by Academy Award nominee Liam Neeson and directed by Ryan Moore and Academy Award winner Leon Gast (When We Were Kings), Manny is the story of one of the most loved and respected athletes of all time — from a starving teenager who fought to feed his family, to a boxing champion on the world stage, to a congressman working to change the country that raised him.
Filming began in 2010 and ran five years, with access no crew had been given before, including Manny's never-before-seen home footage. The film features original music by Lorne Balfe (Inception, The Dark Knight) and interviews with Mark Wahlberg, Jimmy Kimmel, Jeremy Piven, Oscar De La Hoya and Freddie Roach.
Manny premiered at SXSW and the TCL Chinese Theatre, was released internationally by Universal Pictures, and came out on DVD and Blu-ray.
